Dimos Vrysellas is a world-renowned animation veteran, educator, and noted industry leader. With over three decades of experience in feature films, television, and commercial works, he has become recognized internationally for his artistry, leadership, and mentorship within the animation community.
Dimos began his professional career at just 17, joining a Toronto-based boutique animation studio through a high school Co-Operative Education program. There, he honed his craft in stop-motion and traditional hand-drawn techniques before being accepted into the prestigious Classical Animation Program at Sheridan College, graduating in 1995. His early promise led him to DreamWorks Feature Animation, where he worked on landmark productions including The Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, and Shark Tale. He rose from trainee to Character Animator and was later appointed Animation Department Senator, helping guide technical innovation between hand-drawn and CG pipelines during DreamWorks’ formative years.
Returning to Canada in 2004, Dimos continued as a freelance animation director and consultant, collaborating with studios such as Nelvana, Disney, Nickelodeon, Reel FX, House of Cool, Mikros Image, Mr. X, Snowball Studios, Topix, and Brown Bag Films. His credits include Arctic Dogs (co-directed with AIC Studios), Mia and Me, Fancy Nancy, The Little Prince, Mune: Guardian of the Moon, Kronk’s New Groove, Open Season 2, and Handy Manny, among others.
In 2005, Dimos founded Circus Ink Entertainment, Ltd., a boutique production and consulting studio providing high-quality animation services and creative direction to both domestic and international partners. Through Circus Ink, he has led teams across features, series, and hybrid media productions while fostering new talent and maintaining a strong emphasis on performance-driven storytelling.
From 2021 to 2023, Dimos served as Animation Supervisor at ReDefine, overseeing animation on multiple projects including Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie for Netflix. His leadership style emphasizes collaboration, quality, and innovation — values that have defined his career since DreamWorks.
From 2006 to 2020, Dimos served as a Mentor with AnimationMentor.com, guiding hundreds of aspiring and professional animators worldwide in performance, acting, and workflow.
Today, Dimos continues to animate, direct, and consult through Circus Ink Entertainment, Ltd., while developing original intellectual properties across animation, live action, and evolving digital platforms. His career stands as a testament to craftsmanship, adaptability, and passion for the art of animation.
